Finding direction - Jason’s story

When Jason joined the Restart Scheme - delivered by our partners at Triage, he was eager to improve his skills and find employment that could support his long-term career goals. Working with his Employment Adviser Juliana and the team, he developed new skills, broadened his job search, and secured a role that opened the door to future career progression.

The Restart Scheme goes beyond helping people find work. Through one-to-one support, training, wellbeing services and ongoing in-work assistance, we empower participants to build brighter, more sustainable futures.

Jason told us: "From the very beginning, Juliana was committed to supporting me. She helped me rebuild my CV, ensuring it showcased my skills and experience in the best possible way. She quickly identified opportunities for me to further develop my skills and enrolled me on a range of in-house courses focused on customer service and business administration. These courses helped enhance my employability, build my confidence, and support my career progression.

"In addition to this, Juliana recognised the importance of my overall wellbeing and referred me to the Wellbeing Team. Even after starting work, I’ve continued to receive support through scheduled wellbeing appointments, which shows that the support doesn’t end once you secure a job. The team genuinely care about helping people succeed and sustain positive outcomes.

“Rather than focusing solely on job titles, Juliana encouraged me to recognise my transferable skills and explore opportunities that would help me gain valuable experience. I also received fantastic support from the wider team, who provided guidance, encouragement and interview preparation, helping me feel more confident and ready when opportunities arose."

With up to six months of in-work support, the Restart Scheme helps participants settle into their new role, overcome challenges, and build lasting, sustainable careers.

It has given me a significant boost in confidence, opened doors to new opportunities, and provided progression routes, and led to full-time hours. The work is both rewarding and fulfilling, and it has helped me see a clear pathway for the next stage of my career.
